Dr. Ashley Olberg, ND
Hi, I’m Dr. Ashley Olberg. I love being a naturopathic doctor because it combines my passion for modern science and medicine with many treatments and tools from natural medicine that have been around for decades or even centuries. I believe that getting to know YOU and listening to your story is important for developing a therapeutic relationship or partnership for your health. I appreciate that natural medicine allows me to approach a health problem from many different ways and continually think outside the box.
After graduating from Chico State with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences in 2005 I moved to Portland, Oregon where I became aware of Naturopathic Medicine for the first time. I attended NUNM, a fully accredited university in Portland, which is the oldest Naturopathic college in the nation. After earning my Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine, I practiced as a Primary Care Physician in Portland for 4 years. Now I'm bringing my experience back to share with my hometown of Chico. It's great to be part of this close-knit community once again.
I use a wide variety of diagnostic tools to help determine what is going on for each patient, and commonly use blood work, annual labs, gynecological visits, imaging like x-rays and mammograms, etc. Some of the less known labs that I use look at neurotransmitter levels in the brain, serum or salivary hormone levels, gas levels in the stomach for SIBO, heavy metal testing, and more. From there, I really take the time to get to know you and your story. I love to listen. We all have very different and unique stories that really shape our health and I put a lot of value in this. Just like your story, I really personalize each treatment plan to fit you, your goals, and what is doable in your day to day life.
I like to really blend many different types of treatment from herbal remedies and supplementation, to bioidentical hormone therapy, to body work and trigger point release, or referring you as needed to help support you in every aspect necessary. What I care about most is that you feel taken care of and that you are getting better under my care. I will work very hard, with each and every one of you, to try to figure out what is going on and what we can do to increase your health.
The reason that I became a doctor was because I have been a frustrated patient. For many years I struggled with my health, only to find myself walking away with many missed diagnoses or no help at all. Many times I felt like I had not been listened to, which compounded my frustration and feeling of hopelessness. I always treat each patient as I want to be treated; with compassion, understanding, and dedication. This personal background has given me the tenacity to treat everything from common health ailments to very complicated cases that have gone undiagnosed for years. Since finding this type of medicine, my health is exponentially better and continues to improve. I find so much joy in working with my patients and having them tell me what a difference I have made in their health. Now, as a wife and mother of two, I understand just how important it is to stay healthy and feel good. That is why every treatment plan is individualized and empowers patients in their own health care.
